Required qualifications include:
MLS degree from an ALA-Accredited program
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Sincere commitment to customer service
Experience with information literacy and bibliographic instruction
Reference experience
Commitment to the mission and values of Ave Maria University

Preferred qualifications include:
Knowledge of Catholic theology and philosophy
At least one year of relevant experience in an academic library
Reporting to the Director of Library Services, the Public Services Librarian is a key member of the library team. This position is responsible for the overall administration and coordination of Public Services, which include:

Access Services
- Circulation
- Interlibrary Loan
- Periodicals
- Course Reserves
- Stacks Maintenance

Information Services
- Reference
- Instruction
- E-resources
- Website
- Online newsletter

This position is responsible for:
- the provision of outstanding patron services,
- articulating a vision for the development of all aspects of Public Services,
- working to motivate and empower staff,
- the overall operational efficiency of Public Services,
- establishing policies, standards and procedures, and
- setting priorities as well as ensuring the highest level of service to the University community.

In this capacity, the successful applicant is expected to:
- provide clear vision and strong leadership in the areas of patron services,
- effectively manage the department to build a strong teamwork environment that emphasizes excellent customer service that is user focused,
- be an advocate for library users and the Library,
- coordinate assessment of services, processes, and user needs within the department, and,
- enhance working relationships between and among the library and campus departments to ensure quality library services to users.
